DAY 11 ANOTHER DAY AT ADDO

The main camp at Addo is really geared up for the tourist with restaurant, shop, game drives, game viewing platform and underground hide. I was pleased to find out that they would be screening the match between the Springboks and Lions (Rugby that is!)

Bev was desperately hoping to see Meerkats in the Kgalagadi and was so "chuffed" when we spotted these. Although a long way off they were entertaining to watch.

Apparently most of the female elephants in Addo do not have tusks. This is attributed to before the park was proclaimed, elephant were hunted for ivory and so tuskless specimens were ignored. From the original 11 the heard is up to several hundred.

Where ever we went there were Kudu bones. This appears to be the staple diet of the Lion here. We came across this carcass in as small dam. (see below)
